Resident Evil Requiem Adds Free “Leon Must Die Forever” Mode
Capcom has released a free update for Resident Evil Requiem, adding a new post-game mode called Leon Must Die Forever.
Capcom has added Leon Must Die Forever to Resident Evil Requiem as a free post-game update, giving players a new timed challenge mode after the main story.
Capcom has rolled out a free update for Resident Evil Requiem, bringing a new game mode titled Leon Must Die Forever to the survival horror sequel. The announcement was posted by Capcom Official on May 8, 2026.
The mode appears to be aimed at players who have already finished the main story. According to the official Steam news listing, Leon Must Die Forever unlocks after completing the campaign and challenges players to clear multiple stages while racing against the clock. The mode also uses randomized enhancer abilities, giving each attempt a more unpredictable, arcade-style structure.
Capcom’s official post confirms the update is free and ties the mode directly to Resident Evil Requiem. The Capcom page tags the update with both resident-evil-requiem and leon-must-die-forever, but it does not clearly list all supported platforms in the readable page text.
For players, this gives Requiem a reason to return after the credits. For developers, it is another example of how a focused post-launch mode can extend replay value without needing a full story expansion.
Why it matters
Post-game challenge modes can keep a single-player horror title active long after launch. For indie developers, Capcom’s approach is a useful reminder: a smaller replayable mode, especially one built around modifiers, timers, and repeat runs, can add community discussion and long-tail engagement without requiring a completely new campaign.
