THQ Nordic has launched Gothic 1 Remake on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing the cult RPG back with a full Unreal Engine 5 rebuild.

THQ Nordic has officially launched Gothic 1 Remake, bringing the 2001 cult RPG back for modern platforms. The remake is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with development handled by Alkimia Interactive and publishing by THQ Nordic. The announcement was posted on June 5, 2026.
The remake returns players to the Valley of Mines, a harsh prison colony sealed inside a magical barrier. Players take on the role of the Nameless Hero and navigate a dangerous world shaped by rival factions, shifting alliances, hostile wildlife, and limited guidance. THQ Nordic says the remake has been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 while aiming to keep the atmosphere, story, and demanding structure of the original intact.
Players can buy the game through Steam, GOG, PlayStation, and Xbox, and THQ Nordic has also released an English launch trailer, localized trailer versions, and several making-of videos. Physical edition options are also available through THQ Nordic’s store and the official game website.
The announcement does not list new post-launch DLC, Switch availability, or additional platform plans. For now, the confirmed launch platforms are PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
